The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the supplemental Biologics License Application (sBLA) for the expansion of the indication for ACAM2000, (Smallpox and Mpox (Vaccinia) Vaccine, Live) to include prevention of mpox disease in individuals at high risk for mpox infection. The approval is based on previously available human safety data and data from a well-controlled animal study in which ACAM2000 vaccine was shown to be effective in protecting against mpox virus exposure.

Keytruda Disappoints in Phase III SCC Trial; Merck Halts Study

Merck is discontinuing the Phase 3 KEYNOTE-630 trial evaluating (pembrolizumab, Keytruda) for the adjuvant treatment of patients with high-risk locally advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) following surgery and radiation, based on the recommendation of an independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC). The DMC stated that the study be stopped as the risk/benefit profile did not support continuing it.
