An esthetician is a licensed beauty professional who has completed the required education and training to effectively perform a range of skin treatments and services in a spa or salon. You do not need to complete continuingeducation hours to renew your esthetician license. You may renew your license online or by mail.
An esthetician may also choose to specialize in a specific treatment area to become a facialist, medi-spa esthetician, waxingspecialist, makeup artist, or a body treatment specialist. Estheticians licensed in Illinois must complete 10 continuingeducation hours to qualify for renewal.
This marks a significant shift towards enhancing career flexibility and innovation for facialists and other skincare specialists, waxingspecialist, nail techs, makeup artists, hairdressers, hair stylists, and many more industry professionals. This leaves the arena open for even more continuededucation.
The skills you’ll learn in a certified aesthetician program will prepare you for a career as a facialist, medi-spa aesthetician, waxingspecialist, makeup artist, or a body treatment specialist. These include skin care, makeup, and holistic/spa services.
